Cerezyme

Cerezyme (imiglucerase) is used to treat  Gaucher (‘go-shay’) disease, a rare genetic condition that causes slow buildup of fatty toxins known as glucosylceramide in organs and tissues throughout the body. When unhealthy cells are found in the body, they get broken down by enzymes, releasing toxins that the body must dispose of.

The GBA gene helps produce the enzymes in the body that break down and recycle these toxic substances. In Gaucher disease, there is a genetic mutation of the GBA gene, resulting in a build-up of harmful toxins. These abundant toxins begin damaging otherwise healthy tissues, causing organ swelling, vision problems, anemia, breathing problems, and fatigue.

Cerezyme replaces the missing glucocerebrosidase enzyme to help rid the body of toxic waste. This improves blood, bone, organ, and other tissue problems.

Cerezyme has been used for over 25 years and is the only enzyme replacement therapy that has shown long-term benefits and safety.
